students walk in the hall at tioga

Our dress code at Tioga Middle School is enforced to create a safe and professional educational environment. Clothing or items with words, lettering, designs or pictures with sexually suggestive expressions or actions, gang affiliations, profanity, weapons, obscenity, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or that depict anything that might be considered offensive are not allowed. Site Administration has the discretion to determine whether clothing or accessories are appropriate.

  • Holes above the knees are not allowed unless tights or shorts are worn underneath.
  • No sagging. Pants/shorts must fit around the waist.
  • Shirts, pants, shoes, hats, backpacks, and any accessories may not be more than 50% red. No visible solid red underclothing.
  • Fresno State attire cannot have the Bulldog logo or the word Bulldog.
  • Tank top straps must be at least 2” wide.
  • Crop tops (expose the stomach or midsection) and see-through clothing are not allowed.
  • Shorts, skirts, and dresses cannot be more than 4” above the knee.
  • Slippers are not allowed due to safety concerns.
  • Personal hygiene such as combing hair, putting on make-up, etc., is not permitted in class.
  • Students will be expected to remove hoods within the classroom due to unauthorized use of technology (example: using earbuds with personal technology).

Changes may occur during the year if clothing and/or items become a distraction to the learning environment or create a safety concern.

The Board of Trustees approved the following Dress Code Policy at the July 9, 1993 Board meeting. The Administrative Regulation gives specific detail of Fresno Unified’s Dress Code.
