Tioga Middle School - 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony

Please join us in celebrating the completion of our 8th graders' middle school careers!
We are excited to wish them the best of luck in high school and in all their future endeavors. This will be a special moment for all students, families, and the Tioga community.

Location: Tioga Middle School Cafeteria
The Walk-Through Promotion Ceremony will be brief and casual. Students will receive their certificate and walk across the stage to shake hands with an administrator. There will be no long speeches or formalities, keeping the event quick and celebratory.
Following the ceremony, families are invited to stay and enjoy a special treat and refreshments outside.

Late Arrivals: 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Note: We anticipate longer wait times in the early morning, so please arrive during your assigned time to help avoid delays.
Dress Code:
We ask that all students honor the promotion dress code for the event:

No T-shirts or Sweats

No Sliders or Crocs
-
2” or thicker shoulder straps
-
Dresses/Skirts/Shorts must be fingertip-length or longer

No Midriff or Cleavage
Important Notes:

Location: The ceremony will take place in the cafeteria to avoid the heat. There will be no chairs as the event moves quickly.

Attendance: Students do not need to attend class that day. Our counseling team will take attendance when students pick up their certificates in the library.

Suspension Policy: 8th graders who have been suspended between 4/28–6/12 or have been placed in ATS by Administration will unfortunately not be allowed to walk in the promotion ceremony. Please make smart choices.

Promotion Appeals Process
Promotion Ceremony Appeal Process
Dear Tioga Families,
As we approach our 8th-grade promotion ceremony, we want to celebrate this important milestone while also upholding the expectations we have set for attendance and behavior throughout the school year.
Students who do not meet these expectations may not be eligible to participate in the promotion ceremony. However, we understand that circumstances can vary, and we want to ensure families have an opportunity to be heard.
If you would like to appeal your child’s eligibility status, you may submit a written request for review through email. Please include any relevant information or context you would like us to consider.
Appeal submissions are due by June 1st, 2026.

All appeals will be reviewed by the school administrative team, and final decisions will be communicated via email by no later than June 4th.
